Basic Overview (% Incidents Meeting SLAs)


In this article, we will build a report to serve as a template for report building in general. We’ll be going through the creation of a bar chart, pie chart, treemap, and table to illustrate the creation process.

Or you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Select the MDB (multidimensional database) ‘AMITSM – ServiceNow – Bubble’

Step 2: Select the ‘INC – Incident Management’ cube

Step 3: Select the ‘OK’ button

Step 4: Select the search bar and type in ‘Assignment Group’

Step 5: Click and hold the ‘Assignment Group’ field

Step 6: Drag it over to the ‘Filters on all pages’ section

Step 7: Select the ‘Select all’ checkbox

Step 8: Select the checkbox for the next empty field. This will help us exclude empty values

Step 9: Select the arrow to ‘Collapse’ the ‘Assignment Group’ filter

Step 10: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘date.value’

Step 11: Click and hold on the ‘Date.Value’ field

Step 12: Drag it over to the ‘Filters on all pages’ section

Step 13: Select the dropdown chart under ‘Filter type’

Step 14: Select the ‘Advanced filtering’ option

Step 15: Select the dropdown chart under ‘Show items when the value:’

Step 16: Select the ‘is before’ option

Step 17: Select the next text field and enter a date. We’ll use ‘8/1/2017’

Step 18: Select the ‘Apply filter’ button

Step 19: Select the arrow to ‘Collapse’ the ‘Date.Value’ filter

Step 20: Select the arrow at the top of the ‘Filters’ pane to close it

Line and stacked column chart

Step 21: To start building the report, select the ‘Line and stacked column chart’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 22: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘months’

Step 23: Click and hold the ‘Months’ field from under ‘Time – Opened Date’

Step 24: Drag it over to the ‘Shared axis’ section

Step 25: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘incidents total’

Step 26: Click and hold on the ‘Incidents Total’ field

Step 27: Drag it over to the ‘Column values’ section

Step 28: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘incidents resolved’

Step 29: Click and hold on the ‘Incidents Resolved’ field

Step 30: Drag it over to the ‘Column values’ section

Step 31: Select the paint roller icon to go to the ‘Format’ section

Step 32: Select the switch for the ‘Background’ section to turn it off

Step 33: Select the ‘Data colors’ option

Step 34: Select the color for the ‘Incidents Total’ field

Step 35: Select a color from the color wheel or use a hexadecimal code. We’ll use #’ 01B8AA’

Step 36: Now select the color for the ‘Incidents Resolved’ field. Follow the same process to pick a color, and this time we’ll use #’ 374649’

Step 37: Now select the color for the ‘Incidents Resolved’ field. Follow the same process to pick a color, and this time we’ll use #’ 374649’

Step 38: Click and drag the edges of the chart to resize it in the report. We’ll rearrange the visualizations in-between steps from now on

Pie Chart

Step 39: Select the ‘Pie chart’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 40: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘categorization’

Step 41: Select the ‘Categorization’ hierarchy

Step 42: Delete the ‘Subcategory’ from under the hierarchy

Step 43: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘incidents total’

Step 44: Click and hold on the ‘Incidents Total’ field

Step 45: Drag it over to the ‘Values’ field

Step 46: Select the paint roller icon to go to the ‘Format’ section

Step 47: Select the switch for the ‘Legend’ section

Step 48: Select the ‘Switch Theme’ button in the top of the page

Step 49: Select ‘More themes -> Classic’

Treemap

Step 50: Select the ‘Treemap’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 51: Since we already have ‘Incidents Total’ in the ‘Fields’ section, click and hold on the ‘Incidents Total’ field

Step 52: Drag it over to the ‘Values’ section

Step 53: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘hierarchy – assignee’

Step 54: Select the ‘Hierarchy – Assignee’ field

Step 55: Delete the ‘Number’ field from the hierarchy

Step 56: Delete other fields one by one until only the ‘Assigned To’ field remains

Table

Step 57: Select the ‘Table’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 58: Since we already have ‘Hierarchy – Assignee’ in the fields section, select ‘Hierarchy – Assignee’

Step 59: Delete the ‘Assigned Support Company’ field from the hierarchy

Step 60: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘short description’

Step 61: Select the ‘Short Description’ field

Step 62: Now that we’ve finished the report, we can select an area of the Treemap to add focus

Step 63: And we can easily select the same area again to remove focus
