Project Detail (ServiceNow ITBM)


In this article, we will build a report to examine the Project Detail metric for the ServiceNow ITBM product. We’ll be going through the creation of a slicer and some bar charts to illustrate the creation process.

Or you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Select the multidimensional database (MDB) titled ‘AMITSM – ServiceNow – PPM’

Step 2: Select the ‘PPM – Project’ cube

Step 3: Select the ‘OK’ button

Step 4: Select the arrow titled ‘Show/hide pane’ to close the ‘Filters’ pane

Step 5: Select the ‘Slicer’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 6: Select the search bar and type in ‘project short name’

Step 7: Select the ‘Project Short Name’ field

Step 8: Click and drag on the visualizations to organize the report. We’ll be rearranging the report in between steps from now on

Step 9: Now select ‘Clustered column chart’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 10: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘project cost baseline’

Step 11: Click and hold on the ‘Project Cost Baseline’ field

Step 12: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘project cost estimated’

Step 13: Click and hold on the ‘Project Cost Estimated’ field

Step 14: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 15: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘project cost actual’

Step 16: Click and hold on the ‘Project Cost Actual’ field

Step 17: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 18: Select another ‘Clustered column chart’ from under ‘Visualizations’

Step 19: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘project effort forecast days’

Step 20: Click and hold on the ‘Project Effort Forecast Days’

Step 21: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 22: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘hours allocated total’

Step 23: Click and hold on the ‘Hours Allocated Total’ field

Step 24: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 25: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘project duration estimate days’

Step 26: Click and hold on the ‘Project Duration Estimate Days’ field

Step 27: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 28: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘FTEs allocated to task’

Step 29: Click and hold on the ‘FTEs Allocated to Task’ field

Step 30: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 31: For the last visualization, select ‘Clustered bar chart’

Step 32: Select the search bar, delete the last query, and type in ‘project task estimated duration days’

Step 33: Click and hold on the ‘Project Task Estimated Duration Days’

Step 34: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 35: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘FTEs Allocated to Task’

Step 36: Click and hold on the ‘FTEs Allocated to Task’ field

Step 37: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 38: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘project task actual cost’

Step 39: Click and hold on the ‘Project Task Actual Cost’ field

Step 40: Drag it over to the ‘Value’ section

Step 41: Select the search field, delete the last query, and type in ‘project task name’

Step 42: Click and hold on the ‘Project Task Name’ field and drag it over to the ‘Axis’ section

Step 43: Now to add a filter to the bar chart, select the arrow to open the ‘Filters’ pane

Step 44: Select the ‘Expand’ arrow to open the ‘Project Task Actual Cost’ filter

Step 45: Select the dropdown chart below ‘Show items when the value:’

Step 46: Select the ‘is greater than’ option

Step 47: Select the text field below the dropdown chart

Step 48: Select the ‘Apply filter’ button

Step 49: Select the arrow to close the ‘Filter’ pane again

Step 50: Now we’ve finished the report to examine the ‘Project Detail’ metric
